1. Carlos’s role models were not any sports or film celebrities. His models were young saints such as Francis of Assisi, Bernadette, Jacinta, Francisco Marto, and Dominic Savio. He says all are born original but because we run after celebrities we die as photocopies.
2.
At school Carlo tried to comfort friends
whose parents were undergoing divorce, as well as stepping in to defend
disabled/handicaped students from bullies. He treated girls with purity and
respect. He would not allow his friends
to make any fun, any joke about the girls or their bodies.
3.
After school hours he volunteered his time
with the city's homeless and destitute. He would use his pocket money not to
buy mobiles but to buy clothes or sleeping bags for those on the streets. That’s
why his funeral was attended by many homeless people.
4.
Carlo frequently prayed before the
tabernacle before or after every Mass. He would say too much time under the Sun
gives us tan so also spending much time in adoration makes us saints. Carlo who is called as the saint of the
internet created a website to report every Eucharistic miracle around the
world. He used to say "the more often we receive the Eucharist, the more
we will become like Jesus, so that on this earth we will have a foretaste of
heaven."
5.
While investigating his cause for
beatification expert technicians examined his computer, tracked his search
history and all the apps that he fiddled with and found out/ that he always
used his computer for good purpose and never for evil. He never visited any adult websites, never
watched porn, never watched any dirty images or videos. Never indulged in
online gossip or negative criticism.
6.
Even though he was computer savvy and
video game enthusiast /he followed a self-imposed penance i.e. he would play
only one hour of video game every week. He strongly believed in self-control,
moderation and discipline.
7.
As soon as he was confirmed, at age
eleven, he volunteered to be a catechist. He became a friend to many migrant
children. Many girls were his friends. He promoted genuine friendships.
8.
It seems a hindu boy would come to clean
his house. This hindu boy was so
impressed with his simplicity (even though Carlo belonged to a rich family) with
his charity, purity and his strong faith that he decided to take baptism in the
catholic church.
9.
Even though he went for mass every day,
prayed the daily rosary and confessed his sins every week he still struggled
with isolation and his sickness. Many times,
the devil takes advantage of our loneliness and sickness. The devil wants us to
remain depressed. He said the only way to fight the devil is by participating
in daily mass and praying the daily rosary.
10.
Finally, In the white stone tomb inside a
glass coffin lies blessed Carlos, apparently sleeping, his face peaceful and
kind, a rosary looped around his hand: this teenage boy is dressed in jeans,
sneakers, and a casual sports top. He was buried in the way he lived his daily
life with no other paraphernalia which we usually see during the funerals of
young people.
This is
about how a modern teenager lived a very holy life in this present sinful
world. If he can do it you also can do
it. May Blessed Carlo Acutis bless you and help you.
